Phil Wickham Living Hope is the title track of his album with the Living Hope. The song was released on March 30, 2018. Phil Wickham described the meaning of the track in the following words “Our tomorrow was end-of-the-line; however, Jesus arrived and breathed life into us and hope to our hearts and lives. “
Phil Wickham Living HopeWickham created “Living Hope” with Bethel Music’s Brian Johnson (Bethel Music singer) via text. Johnson sent him an email that contained an audio message for the song. Both of them passed on their ideas through an email series until the piece was completed. In a video clip, Wickham states what this song is about to him “God has saved us from a place that we couldn’t have ever managed to escape. All we could have ever hoped to be was the end of our lives. But Jesus was born and breathed the life of living hope into our souls and our life. I am amazed by singing the lyrics to ‘Living Hope,’ which is already a song for the churches we serve. I’d love to see anyone who listens to it sing along and feel their hearts attached to the piece.
Bethel Music released a cover of Phil Wickham Living Hope on their album Victory (2019). The song was a duet featuring Brian Johnson and Jenn Johnson. Phil Wickham said about co-writing the song “Living Hope”: “Last year, Brian Johnson (Bethel Music) and I began creating a piece using text. For about a month, we started throwing notes and lyrics in and out. While we wrote, every line felt like a triumph. “

Lyrics to Phil Wickham Living Hope Lyrics + Music

How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation, I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night
Then through the darkness, Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished, the end is written
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy?
What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior, I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Jesus, Yours is the victory, whoa!

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope…

Jesus Christ, my living hope
Oh God, You are my living hope
